LAW OF COMMERCIAL AGENCY

Introduction

The Eastern Company seizes this opportunity to append below a summery in respect of the laws concerning regulating in respect of the laws concerning regulating commercial agency in Iraq and the instructions issued in compliance therewith and in a chronological order since early sixties of the last century, noting that all these laws are cancelled, except the last law No. 51 of 2000 and the restrictions and the mechanism of work issued is compliance therewith, as you will find at the end of this SUMMARY full texts of this Laws - which is presently in force in Iraq, together with the said restrictions.

1- Law No. 23 of 1960 and the instructions issued in compliance therewith, this Law continued in force until 1969. We do not have full text of this Law.

2- Law No. 208 of 1969 and the Amendments issued to this Law, it continued in force until 1983. This Law cancelled the earlier Law No. 23 of 1960 and superseded it. [Full Text]

3- Law No. 8 of 1976 " Law of Penalizing Unlawful Mediation " and the decision issued by Chairman of the Trade Regulating Committee in compliance therewith. This Law continued in force until 1983. [Full Text]

4- Law No. 11 of 1983 for " REGULATING THE COMMERCIAL AGENCY AND MEDIATION" and the instructions issued in compliance therewith. This Law cancelled both earlier Laws shown against paras (2) and (3) above and superseded them. This Law continued in force until 1994.[Full Text]

5- Law No. 26 of 1994 " LAW OF REGULATING THE COMMERCIAL AGENCY " and the instructions issued in compliance therewith. This Law cancelled the previous Law shown against para (4) above and superseded it. Also, this Law excluded activities of the Commercial Mediation from aboard until further notice, thus, the Law confined to activities of the Commercial Agency only. 6- Law No. 51 of 2000 " LAW OF REGULATING THE COMMERCIAL AGENCY " and the instructions issued in compliance therewith. This Law, in turn, canceled the Law which was in force shown against para (4) above and superseded it.[Full Text]
